My Name is Tonnie Mollah CQP MCQI and I set up TM Quality Services to help SMEs bring the power of SharePoint and help with QHSE processes.
Having worked in a number of QHSE Mangement positions for SMEs over the past 16 years, I have been through the struggles in looking at ERP systems, process mapping and speaking to consultants while still trying to deal with the day-to-day task of running a multi-million-pound manufacturing company.
Its nearly an impossible task for Managers to take this work on as they are working at full capacity.
My Story
My career as a QHSE Manager and Operations Manager has given me a very good insight of the processes for all departments within these businesses in Sales, Engineering, Projects, Production, QHSE, Purchasing and Servicing.
My recent post as Operations Manager for a manufacturing and servicing company in oil and gas, showed me the complexity in implementing a system to the business.
At first, I looked at ERP systems and spent approximately 1 year of mapping and specifications for systems. At initial costs from £150,000 to £250,000 this was a large investment. The actual implementation part would require a huge effort from all employees and for the business at that time was not the right move.
Still working as Operations Manager, we looked at SharePoint and there are so many companies making the move to SharePoint. We hired a dedicated person to implement the system, but with no operational experience this was not working out.
We then looked at a dedicated SharePoint developer but found that there was a massive gap in understanding our business needs and internal resource was committing too much time effecting the day-to-day business. At the same time the project was going very slow.
For personal reason and a new business venture, I put my notice into the company in summer 2022. The owner approached me asking if I would work on a contracting basis to implement the SharePoint system, which I agreed to on a part time basis. While working there, I gained a number of other clients in QHSE consultancy and before you know it, I was working at least 5 days a week in consultancy.
The SharePoint system far exceeded my expectations, and the system is like an ERP at a fraction of the cost. I implemented the system with minimal disruption to other employees and the day to day running of the business.
